That DCP-80 is a DC-DC converter that slips into the battery well of a Sony D10. It was also used with Sony's 8mm camcorders of the 1987-1990 era; like much of Sony's efforts in DAT, PCM encoders etc., the technology is cobbled together from their video development. I have one for use with an old camcorder. NPR has a small fleet of D10s and HHB Portadats; we gave up quickly on the built-in batteries and built outboard rigs with off-the-shelf trickle chargers and 12-volt Panasonic lead-acid batteries. About eight hours run time from a five pound battery. The outboards connect to the D10 through a DCP-80 which has been modified to add a captive cable, bypassing the non-locking coaxial DC input jack. --Flawn Williams ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
