A very few of the Portadisc's had problems. You can expect this new toy
to be as troubled as the Portadisc. The point is very simple, the
portadisc has generally been trouble free. Those who have had problems
have been vocal, those who have not, who are far and away the majority
have said little. They are too busy getting good recordings with it.

Do not equate the report of occasional problems in a newsgroup with a
bad design, the majority being bad or anything like that. It's normal
for problems to be discussed, and not normal for trouble free recorders
to get the same play.

And, I repeat, I have a portadisc, one of the ones with the early
software that's supposed to be bad. I've never been able to reproduce
any of the reported problems on it. It simply has worked perfectly. Just
like one should expect from professional gear.

I expect that this new recorder will have about the same sort of track
record for problems. Plus a few new ones as people find out what a
hassle 8 track recording is out in the field.
