I have been having problem with my Sony TCM 5000 recorder the past few
weeks. Now, it seems to be well and truly on the blink. The problem
began when the recorder intermittently failed to pick up any sound. The
needle on the meter didn't move. Then, for whatever reason it would
work fine for 10 minutes or so, then not function again. Loose
connection somewhere I suppose. This occurred when an external
Sennheiser mic was plugged in as well as when the built-in mic alone was
used, so I am assuming it is not the microphone. A couple questions:
1. Based on the description above, is there an easy repair or
examination that could be made by the technologically inept?
2. Failing home repair, any advice on where I could get it repaired via
mail order (I live in Africa)?
Thanks for any advice,
