Lang, et al.:
Sorry; no. At that age I didn't have recording equipment, just a Kodak
Pony 35mm camera and Doc Allen's hand-me-down 10" flash reflector
with screw-in, blue cellophane covered flash bulbs the size of today's
60W household lightbulbs. Needless to say, even the photos were
less than satisfying because of the long flash duration.
A couple years later, using proceeds from my Ithaca Journal paper route,
I bought an Exacta 35mm slr and a HicoLite electronic flash. Though
that stopped the grouse's wings, the single off-axis small-diameter
flash left half of the bird in shadow, which was also less than pleasing.
So the next year I added a second HicoLite slave unit. I don't recall
doing much photography after that, because college required other
priorities on spare time, such as study and work, and summers were
spent "working" on recording expeditions that took me away from "my"
grouse. C'est la vie.
Good recording,
Randy
