This morning, a pair of Gang-gangs chose our backdeck (in Ainslie) to mate. (the second time in a week, if  the same pair).

The  difference this morning was the interesting initial behaviour.

For several minutes, with both birds down on the deck, the male walked a few slow steps, and then did a small hop (both feet off the deck) , before walking again,  and then repeating the hop.

His red plume seemed to be raised and more prominent.

The female remained close – less than 40 cms away from him -  and would then approach him and appear to nuzzle the back of his neck.

After a few minutes of this, they mated.

A very attractive duet “dance”,  performed right in front of our glass door.
