The Spring Survey for Mount Ainslie was conducted on 24 Sept 2026. The morning started overcast but the clouds disappeared as the morning progressed. The most widespread species were Crimson Rosella, Eastern Rosella, and Noisy Miners which were detected in at least 7 of 9 sites. Other notable species were quite active during the survey, including Rufous Whistlers, Noisy Friarbirds, White-throated Gerygone, Grey Fantails and Mistletoebirds, and whose noisy calls could be heard frequently during the morning. There were also a significant flock of Gang Gang Cockatoo [8 birds at Site 3]. 45 species were observed during the survey [which was the similar to last spring]. 27 species were observed during the site surveys, and a further 18 species while walking between sites – including a pair of Nankeen Kestrels investigating a tree hollow.
