Yes, the situation is similar with me.  The ideal ‘second hand binoculars’ would be a serviceable pair that has given useful service over the years and is only field-worn or superseded.  However my non-used trove consists of items that are broken or have proved unsatisfactory for one reason or other.  The cheaper binoculars are not worth repairing.

I also have several pairs of old binoculars (need to find where they are “hidden”) but these also need some work. This situation is probably similar with most people having old and slightly damaged binoculars. My wife showed me a pair yesterday that I didn’t even know I had and no idea where I got them!!

David

I have an old pair but they need repairs.  I would not consider giving something in that condition.

Greetings. This seems, to me, a great initiative, one for Canberra Birds members and friends to support.

But there has been only a small response, which I find surprising and disappointing, as I bet lots of us have binoculars in reasonable condition that we no longer use and could readily donate.

Please contact Alastair at if you can assist.

Best wishes – David

For the interest of members who may have spare binoculars they no longer use...
