Griffith, NSW Birding

Hi All,

It has been a long time since I posted anything here .... busy these days with four gorgeous grandchildren!

We're off to Griffith in a few days for a short trip and I was wondering if anyone knows whether Campbell's Wetland (Swamp) is still closed? If so, is it possible to see anything from Jones Rd? Also, does anyone know anything about Nericon Swamp ... how to access etc? I assume it's off Boorga Rd.

Any current info about unusual sightings in the general Griffith area would also be appreciated. I'm thinking of Cockatiels, some of the honeyeaters like Painted ... Naturally I'll be checking eBird too, but word of mouth is so much more useful!

We heard our first Koels in Amaroo last week and I spent a fascinating few minutes watching two male pursue a female at Yerrabi Pond yesterday. Other nice sightings there were a pair of Sacred Kingfishers and two White-winged Trillers - the first I've recorded there for some time.

For anyone that is interested, I'm still taking photos and posting on Flickr - mostly local shots this year, but I have albums from many of  our little trips to a variety of places in Australia.
