While watching the Australian Little Bittern at Jerrabomberra Wetlands yesterday, it just managed to escape into the dense vegetation when tussling carp swamped the spot where it was standing. In the picture, the bittern is in the process of making its rapid escape (it is hidden behind the vegetation with its head in the top left quadrant and its body in the bottom centre of the red box). The bittern did not go far, ending up in the area above the red box and it returned quickly after the carp left.
