Hi all
I've been living in Hawker for almost 15 years. During that time, I have essentially lost count of the number of times I have seen or heard Superb Parrots flying over my home. The birds have a flight path from a breeding site in the Molonglo Valley into
the suburbs, right over our part of Hawker. That path is so well utilised that my son and I (along with a bunch of legendary volunteers) completed a study on it a few years ago.*
Today, some Superb Parrots finally (I mean FINALLY!!) realised that I have bird baths for them to drink at. Maybe they caught on to the behaviour of the local Red-rumped Parrots that visit the water multiple times a day!
My heart stopped as I glanced at the baths from inside the living room windows. Three male Superbs came down for a drink. I grabbed the camera and hastily fired shots through the window. Turned out alright!
