Thanks Doug.

There have been multiple sightings of Superb Parrots foraging on ovals and verges in the past weeks.

A further sighting at the AIS carpark leads me to question the seasonal
nature of these observations. For most of the year Superbs can be seen/heard in the Eucalypt canopy at the AIS but last week 13 were noted foraging in leaf litter on the verge under Eucalypts on several mornings.

Can I safely assume that flowering feeding opportunities and/or lerp numbers are low and this drives the ground feeding behaviour at this time of the year?

Further to my earlier observation of 53 birds, 76 seen this afternoon 20th July,  mainly feeding in one small corner inside Arawang Primary School grounds, foraging (for roots, seeds?) under fallen leaf litter from a grove of deciduous trees lining boundary fence. Initially saw ~ 30, remainder arriving at intervals in groups of no less than 10 at a time. Continued to feed for about 20 mins, most flew off in north-westerly direction. Might be a different story tomorrow with school resuming after the holidays.
