Hi all
The tag numbers were also reported to ABBBS by ACT Wildlife Rescue following the finder's query to them (and Wildlife Rescue's call to me). The finder photographed the tags but left the dead bird where it was. It has a detached wing (lying near the rest of the bird) but apparently is in OK condition otherwise.

Hi,

If there is no obvious cause of death and the carcass is in reasonable condition, someone could ask ACT government if they are involved in/aware of a rabbit control program in the vicinity and want to follow up the possibility of the bird having been secondarily poisoned by Pindone. Best practice for using this poison usually involves caged bait stations, pre-baiting and daily collection of rabbit carcasses to reduce the risk (e.g. see Best Practice Management Guide for Rabbits in the ACT ).

WTE isn’t listed as a threatened species but Little Eagles are, and both are likely to be susceptible to secondary poisoning by Pindone.

Hi all.

Just saw a post on Facebook "Hi there, a deceased WTE has been found with leg tags/numbers today at Molongolo River A.C.T. I have submitted ID numbers online to ABBBS. Wondering if there is any specific group or research project to report this data to as well?"

Anyone interested?
