Our resident Magpies have two new fledgelings and I thought the fledgeling from last year will be kicked out. Indeed it was harassed by adults. But recently I observed that last year's fledgeling was feeding this year's fledgeling. Today It
did it again while the adult female was looking on. What is happening? I heard about cooperative breeding in some magpies but not in Canberra.
Of course I feed magpies and that's why last year's fledgeling is reluctant to leave.
