The Cornell Lab of Ornithology's projects including eBird, use the eBird/Clements Checklist of Birds of the World - or the eBird/Clements Checklist for short.

The eBird/Clements Checklist is updated annually to reflect the latest developments in avian taxonomy. Keep an eye on this page https://ebird.org/news/2024-taxonomy-update for progress on the update process. The page also includes information about some of the taxonomic changes (I found the info on Island Thrush splits to be pretty interesting, as it relates to Australia and its immediate geographic region).

Your species totals in eBird may jump around a bit over the next few days, but do not be concerned. Your eBird records will be updated automatically, as the update is completed in the next week or two.

The only change I have picked up so far on my Australian list is that my total has reduced by one species, with this relating to Clements having lumped Western Whistler and Golden Whistler into one species.
