Kingfisher

Good morning

We have visits from the delightful butcherbirds sometimes, and more often hear their beautiful song, but the other day I was quite amazed to see a Kingfisher (very blue and very orange) on our porch. I had just registered what it was when it was chased away by a magpie.

We have never had a Kingfisher  (that I am aware of) in our yard at Holder. We do have fish in a pond and I wondered if they had been of interest to the little bird, but when I counted them, none were missing (unlike when we first came here in 2003 and a heron cleaned out the pond once, then again when I restocked the fish population. It hasn't, fingers crossed, been back in later years thank goodness).

I haven't seen the Kingfisher again...

All the best
