On 4 May I saw at least 34 choughs working over nature strips in Chisholm Street in Ainslie. I am used to seeing roving bands in Ainslie/Dickson outside the breeding season, but this was a notable number. The way they were assorting themselves suggested that it might have been up to three groups exploiting the same feeding area, i.e. mown grass strewn with fallen autumn leaves outside the flats.
