I admit it’s a bit difficult, but it’s kind of topical, with a local connection, kind of.  I’m sure you know the name, surname anyway. Answer later today.

I have tried to follow this through Googling Lynx researchers in Minnesota.  No luck.  So the only two famous Minnesotans remain as Garrison Keilr and Jesse 'The Body' Ventura.

No idea!  I have Googled every permutation of the info provided - without success.  Taking another approach, the appearance of your book makes me think it is an oldish book, and if this gentleman served in WW2 he has likely passed on and is no longer living with his family in Los Angeles. 

But I think the very smiley Lynx deserves a name too. Leonard? Leopold? Linda? Loulou?
