Thanks Noel for posting the link to this conversation with David Lindenmayer. And thanks Ben for suggesting it also be posted to the Canberra Birds (COG) Facebook page. 
For those who haven't listened to this, Prof David Lindenmayer talks about his life in natural research, possums in the Mountain Ash forests of Vic, his family (notably his dad Bruce), a charming story about birding with COG in the 1970s, and about Mulligans Flat, its birds and the work done to have it reserved.
