Visiting Marist Brothers College Pearce, yesterday, for a little cricket photography I found the studentless grounds the weekend resort of a large number of birds fossicking for the crumbs and crusts left over from the working week.  Two families of ravens, more than 20 magpies and a gang of choughs replaced the week-day human feeders  in a small asphalt space. The raven below that is not being distracted by the threatening chough shows some white tips to its feathers.  ‘Gee, they’ve got  a lot of birds here in Canberra’, interstate cricket-watchers would have been saying to one another, as they made their way to the Ray Lindwall Oval.
