I wrote to Christine,
“I wonder if others have seen a Koel like that. I don’t believe that I have.”
So much of the bits that are normally whatever shade of brown or yellowish (in the complex barring pattern they have) are white or close to it. It is just very
pale, even to the tail.

That looks like an ‘advanced’ female juvenile, Christine. Interesting record of a bird a few months of age. . Still with barring rather than the adult spots, although acquiring a few spots on the back.

I have seen this juvenile Koel twice in my back garden, and managed to get this distant and through the window photo this morning.
It seems to lack much of the gold and tan colouring of the other juveniles I have seen in the past.
This is the only juvenile I have seen this season, it did not call, and did not hang around for long.
