That looks like an ‘advanced’ female juvenile, Christine.  Interesting record of a bird a few months of age. .  Still with barring rather than the adult spots, although acquiring a few spots on the back.

Subject: [Canberrabirds] A different looking juvenile Koel

Hi all,

I have seen this juvenile Koel twice in my back garden, and managed to get this distant and through the window photo this morning.

It seems to lack much of the gold and tan colouring of the other juveniles I have seen in the past.

This is the only juvenile I have seen this season, it did not call, and did not hang around for long.

Christine.
