This is not my find, but for those who are not already aware of it, this rare species is being seen at Jerrrabomberra Wetlands at present.
The species was first spotted by Andrew Francis on 10 December - by the cumbungi reeds outside Cygnus Hide. At that stage, his eBird record was deferred pending further sightings.
Keen eBirders, notably Shorty Westlin (among others) haunted Cygnus Hide over many many hours before the bird was again spotted on 27 December. Since then many people have seen the birds, with multiple photographs and records submitted to eBird or to Canberra Nature Map.  It is apparent that a male, a female and a third bird are present.
For those who would like to see this species, be prepared to spend hours waiting for what will be a glimpse. As always, please do not disturb the Bitterns (and other birders) and stay in the Hide.
Kim
