A busy week for young birds at home.
The pair of Superb Fairy-wrens from just across the street have two young in
tow and spend half the day in my front yard.
The White-browed Scrubwrens have one young, but they are staying well in the
dense shrubs.
A juvenile Eastern Spinebill appeared at the bird bath this morning. I’m still
not sure where the birds are nesting. Same goes for the Spotted Pardalote
juvenile that snuck in for a quick drink this afternoon.
Noisy Friarbirds have been in the suburb feeding on the Silky Oaks in two
neighbouring yards. A juvenile was calling amongst them.
Young Red-rumped Parrots and Crimson Rosellas have been calling in the last few
days. No sign of young Eastern Rosellas yet, with parents bathing here daily.
The young Australian Ravens have been practicing their calling, with their
breaking teenage voices sounding highly amusing.
