Yes that is another option. The reason I did not mention
rock dove option is only due to the mention of
The nest was in the middle of the road having
fallen from a Eucalypt
and I don’t know of them nesting in a tree.

I think the chick is a rock dove. The beak and the scrappy yellow 'fluff' is indicative of a rock dove.
