Tree Martins are back

At Edgeworth Pond this week I photographed Fairy Martin’s collecting mud to refurbish their nests under road bridge and pedestrian bridge.

They are certainly back in large numbers.

There is a heap of them circling around, as I type, over the area to the north of Kelly’s swamp, up quite high with welcome swallows.

Last Monday, 21 August, we counted at least 25 tree martins just over the swamp itself. It seemed like they were everywhere.

No sign of fairy martins yet though.
