A friend reported a dispersed flock of about 100 Yellow-tailed Black-cockatoos flying south over Bingley Way in Wamboin at 11.30 am on 18 July, towards the Kowen pine forest. A group of about 50 birds was seen at 5 pm the same day, also flying towards the forest, and it wouldn’t be surprising if these birds are feeding and roosting in the pines.

She reports that smaller flocks of this species fly over most days, sometimes stopping to feed in pines on their property, but that these numbers were higher than usual.
