I was taking my wife to the south side of town for a medical appointment early last Friday and also saw the Little Pied Cormorant that Anthony is reporting. Obviously a slow learner!!

Subject: [Canberrabirds] Unusual road kill
On Friday morning I was driving south on the Tuggeranong Parkway and as I approached the Molonglo River bridge I could see a black and white lump on the very narrow bridge roadside. As I got closer I recognised the lump as a Little Pied
Cormorant.
Quite often as I’ve driven over Scrivener dam, I’ve seen waterbirds flying along the river, and up high over the dam. That includes Darter, and great, little black, and little pied cormorants.
I would assume that a cormorant commuting along the river would fly under the bridge. This bird must’ve flown very low over the bridge rail to get hit by a vehicle. Very unusual.
