Prescribed burns tomorrow

Dependent on suitable weather and fuel moisture conditions, ACT Parks and Conservation will look to commence two small ecological burns tomorrow, Tuesday the 17^th of January:

 

FB704 Jerra Wetlands

 

Jerrabomberra Wetlands Burn
Location	Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve: UBD Map 60, C3. Handy Reference 2 Dairy Rd Fyshwick;-35.315306 S, 149.161486 E
Reason for Burn	The burns will create open grass area where turtles can access breeding grounds, and Lathams snipe can refuge. Increase sedge growth, other native grasses and reeds, decrease clumps of phalaris.

FB780 Amtech

 

FB780 Amtech Burn
Location	UBD Map 70 Handy Reference F12:  Amtech Offset, Cnr Hindmarsh and Canberra Ave Fyshwick, access behind Edgell Place (UBD map70 E,11) 149.171 607 -35.337 699
Reason for Burn	Reduce wild oats and improve habitat for GED and increase diversity of native flora
Size	4ha	Elevation	600m
Slope	0-10°	Aspect	NW
