On the Western Edge: Witnessing Bluetts

Join us for a popup exhibition on-site at Bluetts Block to celebrate the diversely rich bushland at our doorsteps!

Bluetts Block is a natural area on the edge of Canberra's rapidly growing urban footprint. Located close to the upcoming Denman Prospect area, the site has been subject to various land uses over the years. Recently the natural values of the site, as well as the potential threats to it, have prompted many Canberrans' to push for the site's protection.

On the Western Edge: Witnessing Bluetts was a long-form photographic workshop revolving around the eucalypt ecosystem of Bluetts Block in partnership with ecologist and photographer David Wong. Over seven months, participants regularly visited the site to photograph the resident animals, plants, non-living things, and the ecological processes that shape the place.

As a collective, the participants have worked towards an in-situ exhibition at Bluetts Block and a professionally produced photo-book showcasing the outcomes of the workshop.

All are welcome on site from 6pm, December 1st, to experience this unique site-responsive exhibition!

After this event on the 1st of December, the exhibition will be installed in the Manuka Arts Centre Gardens until the 17th of December.
