Ah.  Despite the ever-present Canberra concern about power outages, the faint drumbeat from the gathering ranks of the Quaker Parrot Action Group recedes into the distance, then.

They build the nest in colonies. So the chances of this happening in Australia, where they are not overly commonly kept, and generally would escape individually and probably not survive long, is negligible. And in my earlier message I mysteriously mistyped “admit” as “admin”…..

Following on from Pete's post here are some examples of their nests.  These are of modest size: one that we saw built in to the main gate of Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn was somewhat larger than a Toyota Landcruiser.

The monk parakeet, also known as the Quaker parrot, As in the suggestion of Monk parrot is the same as the suggestion of Quaker parrot.

Sure does. Do an internet search on blue Quaker Parrot. Although I admin my first guess was a blue form of Rose-ringed Parakeet. One of these, an escaped pet.

It looks like it could be a Blue Quaker?

Hi

I live in Nicholls and I saw a bird today, first time in 25 years, and can't
find it in my Birds of the ACT book. Perhaps it's an escaped pet?

I thought I could email you and ask about it and I have attached a couple of
photos if that's OK.
Thanks and regards
