I’ve just returned from a trip to the Darling River and Lake Mungo. First stop was Grenfell. Several small flocks seen flying and 2 large groups seen feeding on the ground to the W of Grenfell.

On 24 July, while in Birdwood St Hughes (looking for a reported Blue-faced Honeyeater), I saw four Superbs fly over heading east, possibly to that location.
As I've discussed before, the distribution and abundance of superbs has changed and is still changing, and is something that we are attempting to get a handle on (I’m putting together a paper on this for CBN). You have to go back to the mid 1990s
to find that classic behavior of arriving back in the region first week of September, breeding out at wallaroo/captains hill, seeing families in Fraser in December, departing the area in last week of January.
