As at yesterday, still one DY Koel at my place (Kambah). Again RW parents. I have no idea if it is the same one as I noted on 28 December. That one I thought looked somewhat big. There was a gap of several days in between, in which I wasn’t aware of the young one still being here. So that would hint at being a different one. This one I thought looks particularly small. These are just my vague impressions of size and whether one bird looking smaller three weeks later, makes any Koel sense, I don’t know. At both observations the young had a virtually full grown tail.

Many thanks Bill, that’s No 39 for the season that I’m aware of, reports have slowed down significantly over the past week.

This includes 8 in my local area of Chapman/Rivett, though no new ones for the past 10 days.  Interestingly the first one I found was still begging very loudly from an exposed position last night 24 days after I first located it.

Regards

Hello COG list members,

I saw this Koel yesterday after hearing it calling in my back yard.  It's still around this morning being fed by two red wattlebirds and harassed by several noisy miners.

Cheers, Bill
