And probably fixing buckles and clips to the gaiters is more expensive than glueing on some velcro. But your general point about designers thought processes is correct.

I hear your pain, Vulpia is the greatest culprit this year. Speaking as a
professional, I used to pay a small child to do this for me after field
work, but in the absence of such I just settle in with a cup of tea and pick
the seeds out (with forceps if necessary). You could try a steel louse comb
(something else that comes with young children) but I'm not sure what that
might do to your Velcro.

Dear CanberraBirds brains trust.
This spring and summer have seen a bumper crop of grass seeds.
The Velcro fasteners on my gaiters have become increasingly clogged up with
them.
I asked Siri for help. Her suggestions were unhelpful.
One option is to continue to pick the grass seeds out one by one, but that's
really hard to do.
Another is to give myself a New Year's present of new gaiters, but that
would be wasteful.
Does anyone have any other (helpful) suggestions to proffer?
