Greetings. As the person who manages this mailing list on behalf of the Committee of the Canberra Ornithologists Group, I repeat the thanks and I have given to list subscribers, in the past, for the excellent use to which they put the list.
Unlike other mailing lists, and other forms of social media, it is almost always characterised by polite and appropriate comment and discussion.
I also use this opportunity to remind subscribers that the list has a few simple rules. They may be found at COG’s website
It might be good for everybody to read them to refresh your memory about the conditions of list membership, and related matters. The version currently on
the website is dated 20 November 21. It differs from the previous version in that it now includes the clarification that ‘Potentially defamatory posts may be deleted from the mailing list archive’.
This reflects, in part, the implications of the recent High Court of Australia decision about the legal responsibilities of the owners and managers of online communication platforms.
