I have been doing some garden pruning this afternoon. About an hour ago I heard some minor magpie alarm calls and look up to see a bit of a surprise. A Swamp Harrier flew over my home going westwards. I think that is my first record of the species in 36 years here. (Or I don’t recall any previous.) I didn’t have binoculars or a long view but the shape and size is pretty obvious of long wings and rounded tail and wings held raised and not very distinct colour in the poor light and just the edges of a white rump………
