It's so exciting to have such magnificent views of Swift parrots this year! There are such brilliant photos and videos being shared, but I also have a special request:
Can everyone who visits the site also please capture as many sound recordings of them as possible?
I am working on a project with some artificial intelligence specialists to develop an algorithm to detect and automatically report Swift Parrots within key habitats. This would then enable us to better monitor
for this species even when people may not be around, such as in areas like the western slopes & south coast of NSW.
Ideally we'd like raw wav files, but any recordings are better than none. If you have nothing else, simply record them on your phone using an app.
Thanks so much! We need a LOT of data to make it as good as possible and to be successful.
