My recent(ish) article in Canberra Bird Notes on birds and the Carwoola fire of 2019-2020 concluded (emphasis added):
A positive outcome is that only one of the specialist species (Striated Fieldwren) has not been reported at least once in 2020: but there are low numbers of reports of this species (at best) in most years.  Add to that the reports of Eastern Ground Parrot Pezoporus wallicus and Southern Emuwren Stipiturus malchurus since June and the picture looks less bleak than it might have done.
This morning, while showing a friend the heath near the Gun Club (or behind the airfield, take your pick) I first heard and then had excellent views of a Striated Fieldwren singing its syrinx out.  So that is the full set of heathland specialists seen since the fire.
