I was near the Fyshwick Sewage works taking a professional interest in the effects of the unusual air traffic on the wetland and sewage pond birds. There was some low-level disturbance of smaller
species that flew around just above tree height. A flock of about 60 ibis (mostly White) flushed off the sewage ponds but stayed low and settled quickly. A couple of darters stayed at mid-height and circled, and a Little Eagle started low over the wetlands
and rose out of sight. The behaviour of these larger birds made me a bit concerned for the Roulettes.

Subject: Re: [Canberrabirds] Fly past
In an sms message reply to a Stuart Harris post I mentioned that while watching the various aircraft through binoculars from the Kingston Foreshore precinct I noticed hundreds of birds, many not visible with the naked eye, high in the sky. There were quite
a few different species involved and some were flying in formation as if about to "attack" the invading aircraft. All in all it was a spectacular display from both the "war-birds" and "non war-birds", especially the Roulettes that did most of their aerial
stunts directly over where my wife and I were sitting.
