Afternoon all,
Following on from an email I received yesterday that said that Trucking
Yard Lane dam had nothing on it, I visited TYL this afternoon as I had
to go out to Bungendore for another reason. The regular whistle-duck dam
had 4 Plumed Whistle-Ducks and 3 Grey Teal. The dam closest to the
King's Highway had about 20 Maned Duck, a few Grey Teal, one Pacific
Black Duck and a White-faced Heron trying to pass itself off as a
bittern. Of interest when passing the Bungendore Sewage Works was the
sight of at least one of the ponds closest to town apparently being
filled in by a bulldozer - I have no idea why. I also dropped in to
check the small depression on Lake Road after all the recent rain.
Surprisingly the pond on the "left" was quite full of water but apart
from one grebe, a couple of Masked Lapwings and judging by their calls,
lots of frogs but not much else. The lower "right" pond did not appear
to have any water at all from what I could see.
Anyone else been out checking these spots recently?
