Thanks to all who commented on the blue-faced honeyeater a couple of weeks ago, and to those who  gave the ID of the other bird with it as a juvenile grey butcher bird. Late this afternoon we saw the BFHE again, in the same protea and interestingly with a butcherbird again.  Today's butcherbird looked larger than the one a fortnight ago. I was interested  to see BFHE and GBB  together again, not having seen a butcherbird in our garden for a long time.(years) although I have seen one 100 metres or so away as the crow flies on Farrer Ridge in the last few months.  Maybe just coincidence the 2 birds were together. A currawong arrived chased BFHE and BB away.
