Yes, it is very sad news and the news came as a shock to me in particular as we had last corresponded about his Koel fledgling sightings only a couple of days before.  COG members will remember the many great presentations he gave to COG, most recently in March 2016.  Jack Holland

Wow that is really bad news. Sad. Surprising. Also a leading light in raptor study in particular. On a scale much beyond Canberra. Gave many really good talks to COG and likely other groups.

It is with great sadness that I report the sudden passing of Jerry Olsen last Saturday.

Jerry was a great member and friend of COG, a personal friend to many, .a consummate professional and a passionate birder.
