Hi Lindsay
When you open Lightroom in Library mode do you see thumbnails of your photos but just can’t access them? If so, you can Select All and then use Library>Find All Missing Photos to get LR to locate them and recatalogue.

The catalog is unlikely to be deleted, just that Lightroom can't find it. You can search your computer for the file Lightroom Catalog.lrcat
When you find it you tell Lightroom where to look by going to Edit>Preferences>Default Catalog and use the drop down menu to specify the location.
If you don't already, you should backup the Catalog file each time you exit Lightroom. The backup should be to a different physical hard drive to where the original file is stored. Hopefully you have 2 hard drives on your
computer and not just one that has been partitioned.
