Hi all
A pied currawong has commenced building a nest in a tree across the street.
Two pairs of brown thornbills have been chasing each other for the last couple
of days presumably sorting out a territorial dispute.
A fuscous honeyeater has been in my bird bath, in my flowering correas and in a
flowering grevillea next door. The many local spinebills are not happy with its
presence.
A couple of weeks back we had that -5 morning. I have two bird baths, a
concrete one and a glazed pottery one and at the moment they’re quite close
together, maybe six feet apart. On this particular morning, around 9.00am, the
sun had hit the garden and the ice had melted in the concrete bath but not the
pottery one. Two red-browed finches were having a good old splash in the
concrete bath as a white-browed scrubwren landed on the pottery bath. The
scrubbie leapt up and attempted to plunge bathe, smacked hard into the ice,
shook itself off and flew away. I’m sure the finches laughed as much as I did.
Cheers
Anthony
