On the Australian Bird Identification Group's Facebook page on Wednesday
was a series of photographs taken by a lady in Yass. One of the photos
is clearly a Brown Honeyeater. I have been in touch with her and the
bird was photographed in the town itself. To the best of my knowledge
this is the first genuine record of this species in COG's Area of
Interest. I do believe there was a record from the Tidbinbilla Nature
Reserve that was rejected by the rarities panel several years ago. If I
can find the record on my phone I will show the photo to two members of
the rarities panel next week. I am certainly happy to accept this record.
