Thank you Don, I have managed to get in touch with the Coordinator of the Fisherman's Paradise Facebook Group and they have said no houses have been damaged.
Such a great idea to use social media.
Thank you!

Hi Rhiannon
For that I was advised to try Twitter, and it has worked tolerably well, although I am still learning how the platform works. But it would be best to recognise that it is, in effect, a crowd conversation. So it is not all reliable,
and in particular I noticed mistakes about south V north side of the street, and houses on corners allocated into the wrong street address, etc, but people are trying to be helpful and eventually the accurate picture emerged about whose houses had been destroyed
or damaged. And one very helpful person started collating all the tweeted information into a list. I was advised to start by searching for the location as a hashtag, eg hypothetically #Canberra, #London Circuit, or #Canberra Fires, #London Circuit Fires,
etc. You will start to see the most useful hashtags after you get started.

Thank you Ryu for that information, very helpful.
Can I take this opportunity to ask if anyone knows of a website or some sort of list/register which details houses (i.e. addresses) lost in certain areas? I have family who have a property in Fisherman's Paradise and are anxious to find
out any information about the effect of fires in that region. Due to road closures and traffic, they have been unable to check the property for over a week.
I have tried a thorough search online, but haven't found anything yet.
Any information would be appreciated.

While I imagine most of you will be well on top of the situation, here are a few resources I have found useful for monitoring the situation.
Fire hotspots map - https://hotspots.dea.ga.gov.au/ - gives you a better idea of the areas still burning as opposed to the burnt area shown on fires
near me.
For facebook users I would recommend following ABC Canberra as they have been providing helpful and relevant updates throughout the day.
Total Fire Ban has been declared for Fri/Sat, and evacuation/leave zones currently cover Kosciusko, Snowy Mtns and SW Namadgi, and much of the coast south of Nowra, with more constantly being added.
Stay safe, be prepared, and take care. Your year list can wait :)
