Thanks Sandra,
I hope they make things clearer. I travelled to Yankee Hat Car Park recently. Lots of signs on the way saying Namadgi is closed during total fire bans. So I googled ACT Park Closures
(when I got some reception) and I got an old page for a fire ban 21 Dec:
A Total Fire Ban is in force
in the ACT until 11:59pm on 21 December 2019.
https://www.act.gov.au/our-canberra/latest-news/2019/december/act-parks-closed-due-to-fire-danger
That’s still what I get from that site today, but there have been fire bans since so that is not accurate. Given how serious this is, it should be easier to find out.
When I got to the carpark there was another little sign saying the Bimberi Wilderness is closed (other ignored it). I wandered around the carpark area but gave up when the Dingoes
started howling in the tree line nearby.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Note: Blundells Creek Rd closed
Having been disappointed recently when I visited Namadgi to find Blundells Creek Rd closed (gate off Brindabella Rd is locked), I checked with authorities. The gate will remain
locked while conditions remain risky (NOT ONLY on fire ban days). Information on govt websites will be amended to make closures clearer, and when conditions improve the closure will be re-assessed.
