‘Which plover’ is indeed the question. The English Names Committee has recently been discussing information that a Grey Plover in Australia is the subspecies Pluvialis squatarola tomkovichi.  Hitherto the Australian list has only recognised Eastern Grey Plover P. s. squatarola.
