The family I followed at Carwoola could tolerate astonishing gusts of wind.

On one occasion one of the chicks got blown off a roost branch and seemed incapable of lifting off the ground - or flying when it jumped off the branch I placed it on  Then it hid while I called Wildcare to sort out what to do with it.  Next morning it was back wit the rest of the family.

This is the family from the magpie nest I mentioned 2 weeks ago.  3 young left the nest 11 days ago.  Second adult also in tree.  I hope they don’t get blown away before the blitz count tomorrow morning.
