Hi all,
Great morning at Cotter today, with at least 8 Great-Crested Grebes and our first Masked and White-browed Woodswallows of the spring. The woodswallows were up high and moving through fast, but managed to see both Masked and White-browed amongst the flock, and
some poor photos. The Grebes are in breeding plumage, so easy to identify, but a long way from where we were, so poor photos only. Most were on the south end of the dam, but three on the northern edge, near the floating barrier. Another 4 grebes in one of
the south bays, but too far to identify. Probably Hoary-headed.
We observed the Great-crested Grebes in similar numbers last year at this site. Lovely to see them back as returning visitors in the ACT.
