Around 1969 someone told us we could find them easily at the Cotter Reserve. Drove out and found them feeding noisily in a feral apple tree. Fast forward to an Arctic-esque morning in July 1980 when I saw a pair feeding quietly in a feijoa adjacent to our driveway, the first time I’d noticed them in Belconnen. Since then they’ve become sporadic visitors to our garden during the cooler months.
